Way back in the mists of time when I was a nipper, there was a public information film shown on television about what to do if you have a burst pipe in your home.
It begins with a family having breakfast, when suddenly a drop lands in the father’s cup of tea from above. Already being prepared for an event such as this, everyone in the home knows exactly what to do – Father turns off the water at the stopcock, Mother holds onto baby while son goes forth, towel in hand, to bind the leaky pipe, thus stemming the flow. Panic over, they call the plumber and disaster is averted.
It ends with the narrator saying:
“Well done sir, an object lesson in dealing with a burst pipe.”
The family congratulate themselves and beam with pride.

Until the narrator says:
“What a pity you let it happen in the first place.”
A few pounds spent on insulation could save you from a winter of watery misery or, since we are in a bit of a time warp, as the old proverb has it:
“an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”
Should you be talking to us about firewalls to protect your business systems?
The investment in preventative cybersecurity is miniscule when set against the cost of recovering from a ransomware attack – don’t let it happen in the first place!
