Our recent mailing “Deep Dive Into Teams” created lots of interest amongst our clients. On the Teams theme here’s some more good stuff you might not be aware of:

Teams Rooms

Are you craving a better meeting room experience?  Whilst not new – Teams Rooms provides a seamless meeting join experience when in a shared meeting room combined with a superb audio visual experience.

With everything from multiple microphones, tracking cameras and a table-top hub to connect those needing to share Teams Rooms (with the right hardware) can take your meeting room experience to the next level.

Multiple Accounts – Coming 2021

Microsoft Teams’s new multiple account feature sounds like it will be really useful – especially if you’re a contractor that works for multiple companies.

This “still in-development” option will allow users to access multiple accounts simultaneously as if they are a single profile, without the hassled logging out of one to access another. Once this goes live, it will feature in the Teams Settings menu.

Office 2010 – End of Life ⚠

Support for Office 2010 ended on 13 October 2020. There is no extension to this or for security updates. Your Office 2010 apps will continue to function but you could expose your business to potential security risks.

If you are still using Office 2010, speak to your account manager about upgrading – which is the recommended route in this situation to ensure you have software that runs optimally and you get the right level of support that you need.

Team News

At Wessex IT, we pride ourselves on recruiting experts who know how to deliver a friendly, personal service. Find out about our two newest recruits – Jo and Lewis.

Jo Newman – Service Co-Ordinator

Jo’s background is in aviation management and she brings a plethora of skills and expertise to our team.

Jo will become a direct point of contact for our clients when support cases need to be accelerated or escalated. Her hands-on role will act as a conduit between our customers and the team, whilst also assisting our Service Desk Manager, Dave.

Jo will be involved with making efficiencies within our team operations to ensure a smooth running of the department.

Her first few weeks have been busy observing the activity on the service desk to put a plan into place for improvements so we can continue to enhance the service we can provide to you.

In her spare time, Jo enjoys spending time walking the dogs, and also horse riding.

This is what Jo had to say about her first month:

“My first few weeks at Wessex IT have been interesting, getting to know a whole new industry! I’m excited to be part of the team and supporting Wessex IT as we head in to a new year”.

Lewis Smart – Engineer

Smart not just by name – Lewis is the second of our two new team members and joins the hustle and bustle as an Engineer on our Service Desk

Having come from another Managed Service Provider (MSP), Lewis was able to hit the ground running from his first day. We had arranged a few days training in advance so that from Day 1, Lewis was set up on our systems and able to ensure a smooth start, responding immediately to our customer support requests.

Our support desk is busy with a variety of different client requirements, so it requires this level of experience to be able to meet our customer expectations and requests.

Lewis is already an integral part of the support team – he is learning quickly and has settled in well.

This is what Lewis had to say about his first month:

“The team have welcomed me very warmly in my first month. Shae, Josh, James, Simon & Dave has assisted me in learning the standardised systems that Wessex IT use, so that I can provide the best possible support and service for our clients. I am thoroughly enjoying working here, and am excited for a bright future at Wessex IT and its ever-growing progress.”
